Production night

BOOM BANG! Last week we did a production called 'Little Luncheonette Of Terror' and I loved doing it, at the begging, my heart was racing like a motorbike going 100 km per hour. Everyone round me was excited, I could see them jumping up and down ready for their first night and next. My parents came to the last night and they thought we did AMAZINGLY WELL! Also all of the tickets were sold out on both nights. I was thrilled by the cast on stage, they remembered all their lines and didn't get a single word wrong. All of the other classes were great at singing, nice and loud and clear. I'm just saying that I found the both of the production nights fun and certainly one of the best things I've done in my whole Primary time that I've ever at Oratia for.

My new maths group

Two days ago, I moved up in a maths group. WALT:Use multiplication or division to solve part unknown problems. In my previous group we were learning how many slices or pieces to shade in, here's an example of what we had to do: 1/4 of 24=?
Then we would make a block or pie and cut it up, depending on which number the denominator is. After we had to find which number to put in each block that will get to the whole number. Then you would add it up and see if it will get to twenty four and for this instance it would be six. As soon you as you got the answer you would circle or shade in the number that the numerator is, so we would shade in one. Then that's your answer, six so 1/4 of 24=6
I said "You can divide the denominator with the whole number and the number that you got, will be the number you put in the boxes. Then the teacher said I could go into Mrs Maguire group because that's what she was teaching. As soon as I moved over to Mrs Maguire's group someone, piggybacked on my theory from my (old) group, had picked up something from what I said. What they did is times the numerator with the answer that you got from dividing the whole number with the denominator, then timesing it with the numerator and that's where you get your answer from. When I moved over to Mrs Maguire's group, she gave us a follow up to do and there were forty questions then three word problems but the word problems were a fraction problem to.

My speech

As you students in Oratia know, we did speeches, we had two options, one was passive and the other was informative. I choose to do passive speech and it was on 'To stop animal testing'
Here is my speech, hope you enjoy

Stop Animal Testing

When was the last time you saw a bunny rabbit wearing lipstick or mascara?
Never, right? But companies test these and other products on animals, hurting and killing them.

Firstly it is cruel to test on animals because a little mouse told me that three hundred thousand animals are being killed a year from animal testing. Think about it, would you like it to be raised, fed and cared for, until you’re around the age of six or five, then put in headlocks and needles shoved into you, because that’s what happens to the animals.

Animals have no choice while being tested. We have to be their voice for them, spread the word about animal testing and save the animals that are being forced to be torched.

Luckily that in NZ there is a ban on companies testing on animals for cosmetics, but other countries can choose to conduct test on animals. You should stop buying products from Johnson & Johnson and S.C. Johnson, you know why, because they still test animals, think about it, they test on every day pet’s like, dogs, cats, rabbits, fish, guinea pigs to name, but a few.

If products are for humans than humans should be tested, do you think that bunnies should be forced to smoke, I mean come, if someone loves smoking then get them to test your new seggert, and let them get sick, would you like to sit in small cages and watch day after day of innocent animals being killed till it’s your turn. Some companies to sell their products don’t care how many animals they have killed, all they care about is the money. Some companies test on animals, even though it’s a human product and eleven beauty brands are still testing on animals, so that means they test nailpolish, lipstick, perfume and more. Many companies don’t care of how many animals they have killed to get their product right. There are other ways that we could achieve this without harming animals.

Bunnies are forced to smoke.
Guinea pigs are held and have drops placed into their eyes to test eye products
Monkeys are pinned down and put into tubes.
They test cancer medicine on mice and rats.

You can help stop this animal cruelty.

You can spread the word.

You can make donations to organisations that are trying to convince people to stop animal testing.

The best way to help is to not buy products that have been tested on animals, if you want to know which beauty brands are still testing on animals then go onto a website called P.E.T.A, peta stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.  Also safe.org lists products on the New Zealand market.
You can be the voice for the animals buy not buying these products from those companies.
Hurt them with their profits so they stop hurting the animals.

My own workshop

Hello everybody, today we're going to learn Reversibility. Today I taught a workshop on Reversibility and it was fun, I found it easy because I had already taught a workshop in Room 10/11 so I felt pretty confident. The reason I wanted to teach a workshop, was because I wanted people to be ready then ever and I think I might do a little more workshops. We were only allowed to have about six people in our group. I hope next time some of the kids will let me speak before or let me teach them without out them trying to guess it.

Speeches

This week is speeches, I'm not as nervous as I was last year because I'm one of the year six's now and I know most of the kids and friends with about half the class, so I'm not that nervous. This year I am doing my speech on Animal Testing which I only heard about this term. (Term 3) I have found a ton of research on animal testing, there's heaps of information about it, I learnt that they tested on dogs and cats then put them in headlocks and force little (baby) monkeys down a tube. This years topic will be great, I feel pretty confident this year about my speech. The way I found most of the information is on this website called PETA.

Art Project

WALT:Send a message through any kind of art. This week and last week, we had to send a message using any kind of art and I chose photograph...
